Concept Cars in Auto Expo 2020

The 2020 Auto-expo was filled with new concepts and future models from different manufacturers but here are my Top 5 picks.

1) Tata Sierra

Tata Motors will be bringing their legendary SUV the Sierra in an all-new electric concept form, which has been showcased in the 2020 Auto-Expo. This car is aggressive,  appealing and contains Tata's Design language which is the Alpha Platform with its Retro elements which are carried from the original Sierra, Like the iconic windows and rugged SUV feel. It also has a continuous running tail lamp with some interesting language. Although the car is in Concept form let see how much of this will be carried over in the production form. Also to note that this car will be Fully electric and rumors say that it will be powered by the same electric motors as of the Tata Nexon EV.

2) Tata HBX

Here is another car from Tata Motors, this car is a near-production model of the H2X which was showcased in 2018 auto expo and currently has very few concept elements. Tata HBX or Hornbill-X is a near-production car that will sit below Nexon and it will be Tata's Entry-level Suv. This Car is also based on the alpha platform and is Tata motors smallest Suv with dimensions (L-3840mm | W- 1822mm | H-1635mm). It is a Petrol-only model and an all-electric version is also on the cards. About the design, Hornbill-X carries a muscular design with Tough and rugged Suv elements like bash plates, side claddings, big profile tires and a carrier on the roof. It also has some easter eggs elements like a rhinoceros on the quarter panel and rear windshield with arrow inspired tail lamps and hood scope. According to Tata Motors, the car showcased is almost 95% of what we will be getting as the production vehicle.

3) Kia Sonet Concept

Kia Motors unveiled the concept of their brand new compact SUV the "Sonet "at the 2020 auto expo. Although the car is in concept form it looks like it will be ready for production in the last quarter this year. Kia Sonet concept showcases upright muscular styling with very smooth surfaces on the side without any cuts and edges. The front has the trademark tiger-nose grille with honeycomb effect with larger air damp at the bottom and also has eyelid LED headlamps striking DRL's. Coming on to the side Sonet has some big-sharp alloy wheels with a very smooth body surface and a different type of "C" pillar which slants upwards to the roof. The car will come feature-loaded and will come with a variety of variants like what we have seen in the Kia Seltos. Kia Sonet will be available with 3 engine options, 2 petrol, and 1 diesel engine and will rival against Hyundai venue and Suzuki Brezza.

4) Skoda Vision IN

Skoda Vision IN previews Skoda's upcoming mid-size SUV and its the first model on the MQB AO IN platform. Skoda is planning to launch this mid-size Suv in India in April 2021 also to note that over 90% of the car will be localized in India. The car has a chubby and Imposing front end with some rugged and mean elements like Skoda's bold Grill, bumper with skid plate and all Led treatment. Coming to the Interior the Vision IN uses a variety of layers plus materials and is far away from Skoda's traditional basic and subtle interior look. The car will have a 12.3-INCH touchscreen infotainment system and a 10.25-INCH virtual cockpit which is similar to its elder brother Skoda Kodiaq. Powering the Vision will be Skoda's all-new 1.5 liters 4 cylinder petrol engine with Expected output of 150ps and around 250 Nm of torque. Vision IN will be rival against some tough competition like  Kia Seltos, MG Hector, Tata Harrier, and Jeep Compass.

5) Mahindra Funster

Mahindra always has something special for the auto expo but this time they really surprised everyone by unveiling "Funster" their all-new Convertible electric SUV concept and its a show stopper. According to Mahindra its a fun concept that cheers to the possibility of electric vehicles. The design showcases typical Mahindra traits with futuristic design. Funster is a convertible and has 4 seats which means it's practical but the most amazing design element is the "scissor doors".   Powering the funster is Mahindra's MESMA electric vehicle architecture which will be the base of all-electric cars developed by the manufacturer. Funster gets a 59.2 kWh battery which gives it a range of over 500 km which is really promising. It's a dual electric motor set up with a combined output of 230 kW which means than 0 to 100 kmph will take just under 5 Sec.

Comment down which one is your favorite and you are most eager to look upon.
